Food for Performance – Cooking Class

As a nutritionist, I’m passionate about cooking, and a food-first approach forms the base of my philosophy towards performance nutrition. Through conversations with my athletes and people I train with, I realised that cooking doesn’t come easy to everyone, but it is something that people are keen to learn. So, combining my passion for sports nutrition and cooking,  I’m organising a hands-on cooking class in November! Using the purpose-built kitchen facility at Liverpool’s John Moores University, the classes offer likeminded people a place to come together and learn how to cook easy and healthy recipes in a fun and friendly environement.

The event will be a friendly and fun evening, giving you the chance to interact with others as well as learn some new cooking skills. Working in small groups, you will create fresh and tasty meals including a breakfast, lunch and snack, under the guidance of a trained chef.

All ingredients and utensils are provided, you just need to turn up!

The event will begin with a brief welcome and introduction from myself and our chef but then it’s straight into the kitchen for some hands-on cooking! I’ll be on-hand to answer any of your nutrition questions and explain how the foods you create can be built into your performance plan. You will be able to try and taste the meals being created by the different groups and even have food to take away. As a bonus, you will also receive recipe cards for al of the recipes of the night, so you can recreate them at home and show off your new cooking skills!

I’m extremely excited to finally have this event come together! Please see below for details regarding location and parking.

Parking:

Unfortunately during University term time there are parking restrictions due to resident permits, outlined in red. So it’s recommended to give yourself a little bit of extra time to allow for walking to the campus. When you arrive on campus, aim for the reception marked by the red star, which is in the middle of the campus car park. Directions to the kitchens will be signposted from the reception.
